The MAF is bad in my 2000 996 C2 and I have ordered a new one which will arrive on Tuesday. When I disconnect the MAF, the car runs close, if not normal. My book by Wayne Dempsey states that you can drive short distances (30 miles or so) with the MAF disconnected. My Porsche is my daily driver and I'm wondering about driving it to work on Monday and Tuesday (about 10 miles one way/each day). Would I be doing any damage if I pamper the car and just get to and from work or should I borrow a car? Thanks for any advice as I'm not sure what I should do with this one.

You won't get any damage from driving with the car without the MAF. You might get codes thrown, but you can clear them after you install the new MAF.
