Yesterday my car went haywire. Windows went down, alarm went off, horn blew, locks wouldn't work, dash lights came on with the key but nothing else. I could here the box under the seat clicking and when I investigated the floor under the seat was full of water. I recently had the car painted and it looks like its is now leaking.

First, I need any hints I can get on most likely spots to check for a leak. Second, what is the box under the driver's seat. I though it was the ECU, but after a quick internet search is appears the ECU is inside the firewall. HELP!

Had the same problem left window down, I had to replace the alarm module under the drivers seat. I contacted the ECU Doctor via internet and then sent my alarm cpu, ecu and key to them they replaced the alarm cpu matched it to the ECU and Key fob and sent it back.

problem solved. I raised it higher off the floor, put desiccant bags around it.

Once your immediate issue is resolved, to look for water leaks, you might want to sit in the car while someone hoses it down different sections methodically. Have towels handy. Prior to doing this, I would check for obvious missing/deformed/badly reinstalled weatherstripping and fitment issues.

Alternatively, you could take it back to the shop that did the painting and have them do it - I would at least contact them to let them know of your displeasure.

Lets start with the basics. Coupe or Cab?

Check drains and moldings.

How extensive was the repaint?
