From the factory maintenance schedule...

"On vehicles with annual mileages of less than 9,000 mls (15,000 km), an annual maintenance must be carried out once a year."

Still change the oil yearly at minimum. I get the oil changed in my 997 yearly regardless of whether I've hit my 7000 mile limit, as it's one of the easiest ways of keeping the engine in rude health. Also bear in mind that short, infrequent trips can age oil quicker than if the car was a daily driver, due to moisture contamination.

Changed oil took a 1.2K mile road trip after a year stop and go driving in Houston, TX. I noticed that moisture was being cooked out on the drive by looking at the filer cap and tube, two days of non-stop 75 mile an hour, 69 MPH average and 26 MPG per the on board computer. A lot of light rain en-route, had a ball driving, will do it again next week heading back home, may make a side run to KY. Just for the twisty roads, and stop at my brother's.

Dario, change your oil yearly, at the minimum. Regardless of LOW miles. I'd recommend changing your oil every 5,000 miles with a quality full synthetic. I'd also recommend 5W40 Joe Gibbs DT 40 or Mobil 5W50. Do Blackstone oil analysis.

When was your new car's last oil change? If you don't know for sure, do it now, and "zero" out that interval.

Thanks all. I had it done yesterday. Found a local reputable Porsche shop that only charges $169 - Mobile 1 5w-40. I'll plan on doing it annually. Next is a brake and maybe a coolant flush.

That's a very fair price. Mobil 5W40???? Which one? The only 5W40 I know of in Mobil is Turbo Diesel. Actually a very good oil, and recommended by several knowledgeable engine builders.

If you decide to do the coolant (smart) might want to go full boat, and also do the water pump, serpt. belt, and thermostat at the same time.

Agreed, I was really happy with $169. That's more than $100 less than another P-car specialist near me. I'll double check the receipt for oil weight. I could be wrong. I'm sure they put in was ever is called for.

As for the flush, I don't think I'll do the full monty; wp, belt thermostat. My car only has 33k and I just got it. Not sure the wifey would support that kind of preventative maintenance....

The belt is easy to replace. If you don't want to change it now, just buy one and carry it with you. Also take a photograph of the belt on the car, so if it fails you know how to re-thread it.

I change my oil every year, despite driving less than 6 thousand miles in that time. I only use Millers CFS 10W40 nano oil. This oil is becoming very popular in the UK for Porsche M96 engines, it's recommended by Hartech who I believe to be 'experts' when it comes to this engine type.

My engine has the Hartech cylinder 'stability' mod, the Hartech IMS bearing, the low temperature thermostat and a new water pump all supplied by Hartech and I'm convinced that it will go on, and on, and on, and on, and on........
