I have searched but can't find a response that doesn't confuse me.

In the dash and rear the system was upgraded to 2 x Alpine SPG speakers (2 way, 45wRMS, 200w Peak).

Confused as to what to go for in the doors. I have currently got but not fitted Infinity 52.11i 5.25" 13cm 2-way 165 watts ..... as they fit as direct replacements into the door enclosures.

However some forum posts suggesting not too complicated to put 6.5" and much better sound?

So questions -

Stick with Infinity 5.25" as originally planned?

Go for 6.5"?

If so how much cutting of door enclosure required (Nokia i think)?

Do I go for co-axial or a set of components and just discard the tweeters?

Don't want to spend huge amounts but can send the Inifinitys back (cost about £100) and replace with 6.5" but what?

Confused? Thoughts?

Go for 6.5's, they fit the Nokia door boxes with very little modification. I made the mods about a month ago and it took me about 20 minutes shop time to fit and epoxy the new speakers in. Just make sure the new speakers are not too deep. I went with coaxial Polks. I believe the Haes stock amp (if that is what you have) only sends lows to the doors but since I am swapping the amp I wanted full range door speakers.

The doors require small enclosure sub woofers. The signl sent from the mp is only the low frequencies. So component speakers would be a mistake. I initially installed mids in my doors and the results were not great. I am now running Focal 5WS which are great but no longer made. I think the replacement is a 13Kw. These are 5"-5.25 " and fit the enclosures with minor mods. Some people run 6" but this required more modification.

I'm sure the Focals sound great, but the component woofers that I used have a broader frequency response on the top and bottom, they are available, and they are significantly less expensive.
