996, MY99, manual, C2, Coupe, manual hood/trunk release.

How big is the gap between the tuck lid and body when you first open the engine lid? In mine there is hardly room to insert the fingers.

Is that normal or the shock needs replacement?

The pic shows the gap after pulling the engine lever.

Thanks.

Turn both, left and right rubber buffers on the lid , one turn out and look what it gives.

In that case, try to put the lock mechanisme a little deeper, so there is more tension to the rear part of the lid.

Moved the lock mechanism as deep/down as it goes but no cigar. Guess the next step may be the strut.

Thanks

No sign anything has been moved. Original paint on the nuts is intact.

I took off the strut and when I open the engine lid is like the strut has never been there, it opens to the same mini gap. Think is the strut. Will replace it.
