I have searched for this question, but unfortunately, this is one of those issues in which there has been quite a few different answers out there. I have a 2000 Porsche C2 which currently has no wing. I have recently purchased what I believe is a Shaw GT3 type wing which does not have a brake light in it. My question is, can I get by with doing the jumper between pins 2 and 5 (that has been discussed) in the current wiring harness to disable the wing warning I will get on my dash? If not, is Part# 996.612.070.51 the correct fixed wing wiring harness I would need for my setup? My second question is if I install the wing without either of these things done yet, will I do any harm to my car other than having a warning light on the dash?

I called my local Porsche dealer and they did not seem up to speed on this. They advised me that the only thing I may have to do is stop by and they may have to reprogram my car's computer to understand it has a fixed wing now. It just seems from everything I've read that a 2000 996 will need more than that.

The wing I purchased was used and does not include a wiring harness. I'm just trying to get everything together so I can install correctly right away. Thanks for any help!

You can do the pin jumpered if the other pins are already jumpered per spec or you can use the 996.612.070.51 (for coupes only).

The Porsche aerokit wing that the harness is made for does not have a brake light either.

You need to go back and look at the diagrams - if you had a stock spoiler before then all you need to add is pin 2 and 5 jumper.

If not you will need to figure out what is already jumpered and what is not.
