Very nice DIY, great pictures. Thanks for sharing with us.

Just FYI - the factory location for the microphone is actually not a great location. Up above near the dome light is the quietest part of the car.

Thanks xxaarraa.

I've yet to be impressed with any in car microphone - my $60 Motorola headset blows them all away - but thanks for the tip :)

After a few days of living with the head unit, I'm not overly impressed with its Bluetooth streaming functionality at least when used with an iphone. You can read my review on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IA7LCFC/ref=oh_details_o02_s01_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Good write up. Let me suggest two things:

When removing the torx screw behind the microphone cove, leave the screw in the hole once it is loose. Then use a pick up tool to remove it. Also, the pick up can be used to start the screw during re-assembly.

Also, when attaching the RCA jack, cut back some of the wire so the jacks lay staggered. This wasy the wiring harness is not such a knot.

Thanks jjb7. I will add these when I update the write-up. You will also have noticed that I did nothing about the alarm contact. I will address this once I get my car back from my mechanic (fuel leak)
