Ive read a handful of threads on this, my warning comes on after a few miles of driving.

Warning or not, sometimes it raises up fairly quickly (20 seconds), other times it raises in about a minute.

Im lead to believe the rebuild kit can solve my problem, as when a sensor goes bad there are some other problems as well.

I did a google search of the VW PN 7LO 698 030, and it turned up a few of the normal sources: ECS, Pelican, RMEuro...... etc. All for $160-$200+

I then came across this link on good 'ol EBAY for $30, thats right, only $30 TYD from England

Has anyone had any experience with this kit? It does appear that all of the others are very overpriced for the materials and MFG. I may try it for $30, not much to lose.

Haven't tried that kit but it may be the same as Ebay seller bagpipingandy also from the UK. I've bought two of his kits. One for my girlfriends A8 (also a Wabco compressor but different size) and a spare for the Cayenne (already did the VW kit two years ago). His kit is as good as the VW kit for a fraction of the price.

I put one in and it did not fix the problem. It actually got worse. Now looking for other causes.

I had the same experience as you. It got worse after I installed the repair kit. After that I disassembled the whole compressor and found a lot of rust and water inside it. Springs were broken due to rust. I installed a complete new compressor => Problem solved.

 

So my compressor was broken due to moisture due to saturated desiccant. Desiccant is too small and will only last for a few years before we need to replace it. Doable, but means disassemble the whole compressor.  I have now installed a second air drier in my 2004, project described on Rennlist.
