2004 Cs - ppi shows cam position sensor

Hi - Just had a ppi on a 2004 cs. The car shows a cam position error, but no engine lights. Car has 70k - Should I be really worried about this? Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great.

Also, lower control arm ball joints need replacement - any idea on cost here?

P0021 Inlet Camshaft Adjustment, Bank 2

Possible causes:

- Solenoid hydraulic valve faulty (dirty, stuck, etc.)

- Oil pressure too low

- Intake camshaft adjuster faulty

- Camshaft stuck (incorrect or faulty installation)

My 04TT had P0021 also, replaced sensor and the code went away for me. Sensor is at rear of valve head cover, by the fuel rail, held with one torx screw.

Recommend a genuine part, I first got cheaper beck/arnley but it was defective and missing the O ring. It is a Hall effect sensor, cannot test if the part is good or bad with a tester.

Be careful not to drop the screw as it is a tight access.

I replaced the sensor at the rear of the valve head cover. It hasn't solved this problem.

Has anyone replaced the camp position sensor before? This is the part number - 948.105.303.05. Looks like the valve cover needs to come off and this part should be easy to remove/replace.
