Replace Seat Upholstery

My 2001 Basic Boxster has "Graphite Gray Partial Leather" upholstery.

The parts DVD is a bit confusing here, as I'm unsure which sections are leather and not.

Would like to learn part numbers for all pieces (back and seat) to replace what I have.

If possible part numbers to convert to all leather if this is feasible.

Yes, that is possible.

Here are the pieces for each seat. The top are the leathers (1, 4 and 5) and the bottom are the foam replacements (8-10).

I recently swapped out MY98 Boxster OEM Savannna Beige seats for a combo of Black/Green and Red Boxster logos. I went with a third party and replaced the stock leather. My OEM seats were all leather some may have vinyl in back of number 1 above.. Mine didn't.

Thanks for replying--think I have it figured out now.

My '01 is Rain Forest Green as it appears your Boxster is as well ... and your seat remodel look great.

Three pieces per seat at $1-1.5K each will get pretty expensive. We'll see.

The numbers I believe I require are

#1 996 521 141 01 EEE

#4 996 521 151 05 C50

# 5 886 521 161 05 ESF

The 141-161 progression of numbers leads me to think these are related parts.

I'm at least pleased that the heating elements are separate--on a Mercedes I had once they were sewn into the upholstery.

The stock Porsche heated seat element/pad is attached to the foam underneath the leather. You can buy stock replacement foam with or without the heated pad. Because of the expense to replace OEM leather I went with an aftermarket replacement over original foam and heated pad. My original seats were 100% leather without any lining (except a thin headrest liner.) The OEM seat is basically leather on foam. My replacement seats had a sewn in liner. A substantial upgrade and I would definitely recommend.

I also went with an embroidered "Boxster" logo in red.

As you may find considerable interest in this, you might want to post the name or website of the aftermarket supplier you used.

My old seats were literally starting to come apart. After a little research I bought replacement leathers from Leatherseats.com.

I wasn't comfortable trying to get an exact match with the Porsche Savanna Beige, so I went with two toned black and green which was a very good match with my black interior parts and the green exterior paint. The have several different grades of leather and other combinations in percentages of leather to vinyl. I went with 100% Premium Italian leather with perforated seats for about $1,250 plus shipping.

I know it's been a while, but leatherseats.com no longer has a Porsche section. Any other resources that anyone would recommend for redoing seats?  I see many doing a search, but it is hard to know which ones provide good products.  Thanks!

Reference leather replacement seat covers

 

Recommend Lseat..com they make leather replacement seat covers for 986 and 996 Porsches.

 

I think the going rate for the seat covers is $300.00 whether it is for a sport seat, a regular perforated seat or a supple leather seat cover. And they do piping as well as two-tone colors.

 

Just my two-cents

I plan on replacing my Natural leather front seats with supple leather front seat covers.

As much fun as being kicked in the head. Swapped the top surrounds and added leatherique rejuvenator to the lowers.

Replacement leather from lseat.com and not an exact match as it was more textured leather than the stock. Local shop quoted me 4 hours per seat to install so I did it myself in about an hour each.
