Was told by my local Porsche Independent mechanic that my Valve Cover had a slight oil leak (right Valve Cover (passenger or Driver side?)

I don't see any signs of a leak nor have I seen any right ups or DIY on the repair of a valve cover on a 2004 Cayenne S V8.

So it doesn't sound too common an issue with the Cayenne?

Does anyone have any pics, DIY, Video or right up on the procedures to repair a leaking valve cover.

I would assume it would be to replace the valve seal "gasket" that goes around the cover but would like to see a write up, pictures, torque specs etc on the repair.

It is interesting that I see THREE different Valve cover gaskets, ONE for cylinders 1 -4 TWO for cylinders 5 - 8 and THREE and "OEM" possible for V6

Thank you

I found this information but still need some DIY and Pics to go by

Common Misdiagnoses
  • Components such as spark plug tube seals and grommets can also leak oil, which can be mistaken for a leaking valve cover gasket. The seals and the valve cover gasket should always be replaced together.

Best Practices
  • Using high-quality valve cover gaskets will reduce the chance of recurring leaks and additional repairs.

  • When replacing the valve cover gasket, we recommend having a valve adjustment performed, if applicable. Since the valve cover is removed to adjust the valves, this will save in labor costs.

Common Symptoms
  • Valve cover gaskets need to be replaced when they begin to leak oil. They can damage other engine components, especially belts and hoses.

  • Oil leaking from valve cover gaskets can result in a burning smell coming from under the hood.
