Where is 997.618.516.01 located? Durametric calls it the Communications Front Control Unit (Comfort)

Battery died and after I did the emergency procedure to open the boot lid I got a C127 error, it goes away and then comes back intermittently.

TIA

:welcome:

You will find the front end control unit in the front trunk - right side - near the back of the right front headlight.

If the issue does not go away after replacing your battery - then you will likely have to have that control unit re-programmed by a dealer/OPC.

Sorry, that happens sometimes.

So, the control unit isn't bad , it just needs reprogramming? Or is the unit bad and it needs reprogramming, too?

TIA

Why can't these cars be easier than that, I hate having to go to the Stealership.

I want to be able to diagnose my own problems, that why I bought the Durametric, and repair them myself.

Thanks for your info!

It is unfortunate but that series of cars (997-1) had some issues with all the new electronics... and sometimes it seems the control can just plain "get lost".

The cure in many cases is a re-program to factory settings.

Did this change from year to year?  On my 2008 Carrera S, I found part number 997.610.105.11 in that location, not 997.618.516.01.

997.610.105.11 - Headlight Control Unit?

997.618.516.01 - Vehicle Electrical System Control Unit?

997.610.105.11 was replaced by 997.618.512.01 (for cars with option I601 Xenon headlights)

997.618.516.01 - Vehicle Electrical System Control Unit -- is current for all 997.1 from MY2005 to 2008.

I have been chasing a parasitic leak for about 3 years on my 2007 911 Turbo with a Manual Transmission.

When I am at home I keep the car on a trickle charger and when I am away from home I have a quick battery disconnect so I do not get stranded with a dead battery.

From what I have read disconnecting the battery can lead to an "Warning Visit Workshop" in Instrument Cluster Cd 8043 fault.

Service Bulletin  https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10168693-0001.pdf page seven about halfway down, "part ID 9449" , "Warning Visit Workshop" in Instrument Cluster Cd 8043 indicates that the Control Module - Porsche (997-618-513-01) is the source of both issues i.e. The parasitic leak and the Cd8043 fault.

My question is if I "Simply" replace the Control Module it will not resolve the issue. In addition, I will have to pay the Stealer to program it as well?
