I cant seem to find a topic discussing the meaning of the door chime when turning off the ignition and exiting the car.

My car is a '99 boxster, and I frequently get a varying number of "dongs" when turning of the car and removing the key. I looked in the owners manual and didnt find any reference.

Anyone have knowledge of what the car is trying to tell me?

Thanks!

Can you make a recording of the sound? Usually it means you left the lights on. Do you have an aftermarket GPS or an On Board Computer(OBC?)

No GPS nor the on board computer option. Everything is stock. Its the same gong as the seatbelt warning/lights left on warning. I'll try to make a recording, its interesting that it seems to be random. Could it be as simple as Im taking my seat belt off before removing the key? I know the lights are not being left on... It seems to be a warning for something, It does seem the number of gongs varies??
