Hi I've read numerous topics on the Tiptronic fluid changes on the RT forums and from what I can see it will take approx. 4.5 - 5 litres to complete a filter, gasket and fluid change on my Tiptronic box.

My local Porsche Specialist has quoted me for 9 x litres. I read this is for a completely empty box after rebuild, etc. Does anybody have anything in Black & White that states that 4.5 - 5 litres is sufficient to change out the fluid? He has quoted $21 per litre and I don't see why I should pay an extra $80 - 100 for fluid that I don think I need for the change. He has quoted 2.5hrs to undertake the change at approx. $200 which I don't mind paying as I don't have access to a ramp, required tools, etc plus its 40dc outside and dusty (United Arab Emirates).

Also is it worth having them change the diff oil at the same time?

I'm just trying to do some preventative maintenance and the box is working fine however the car has approx. 143,000km with a new engine fitted 25,000km / 2.5yrs ago by the Porsche dealership (cost more than what I paid for the car earlier this year) with which the car has a full service history with however since it is no longer under warranty I am not willing to pay $200+ per hour for labour to subsidise the nice "free" coffee in the Porsche Showroom so I prefer to use the local specialist who also services Maserati's, Ferrari's, etc :-)

Depends upon what they are doing; a gravity drain fluid change would require 3.5L, a total drain (trans and converter) would be 9L, same as required to fill an new trans.

I've queried this with the garage and they've confirmed they have quoted me for a full flush of the system so they mentioned 8 - 9 litres, thanks for the feedback
