Porsche Cayenne Navigation DVD from Newerstone on Amazon

Hi -

Have anyone install or heard of this product for our Cayenne? I came across this on Amazon and it looked like a great product but I can't seem to find any reviews anywhere from any of the Cayenne forums. Here's a link to the production I'm talking about.

It looks like it's a perfect fitment to replace the current PCM. What am I missing? Thanks.

Hi,

I have seen this as well. Just not sure if I wanted to be "First". I actually work on software for OEM head units for my profession, so I have some insight to this.

Issues will be:

-Audio: Line level outputs: If you have BOSE, like I do. NAV-TV HUR unit would allow you to keep it.

-Cluster: Info for current song, station etc. Lost.

-HMI (User Interface)... Looks rather Game(Ish) oriented. Many asian products use a particular tool set that yields the type of UI that this shows on Amazon. Somewhat cheezy, but functional.

-Variations of this unit are available on eBay.

-Your mileage may vary on warranty... What if it breaks is a real problem...

I am somewhat torn myself: Am sort of thinking about rolling my own...But, this is still attractive...

This is my first post. I have a 2008 Cayenne S with the BOSE sound system and have just finished an install of the new Dynavin solution for Cayenne. From what I've been told by the distributor, I may be the first person in North America to have one installed.

I'll post a new thread in the coming week on my install and will be happy to share my experience with others. But for any Cayenne owners looking for an aftermarket solution that's compatible with the MOST system, it doesnt get much better than this.

I found a couple Russian YouTube videos, but they don't show a whole lot.

I talked to the distributor and they mentioned that folks are having success with these units. Also, accepts rear view camera input and no dahs kit is required. TV option is only valid for EU and won't work for the US but I don't care about that option. Anything that gives touch screen with Bluetooth and decent fit is a winner over PCM 2.0.

I have been searching the web for more information about the DVN-PC. I finally found a picture of the cables etc that come with it. It looks like it does the MOST conversion via a small black box outside of the radio.

Considering it is only $100 more than what the MOST-HUR would cost before adding an aftermarket radio, it really looks like a winner.

Now if we can only get shooterandcheech to be a hero and write us up a review of it.

I will update the folks here that are interested in the DVN-PC as I expect to receive shipment on Friday, 2/21/2014. Crossing my fingers that all will integrate seamlessly. I doubt it highly but being optimistic.

Would love to hear how this works out as well. I have a 2006 s titanium which I LOVE. My hope is to upgrade the head unit to something a bit more in tune with todays technology. Ive looked at doing an ipad or nexus seven but the only thing I cant really work out is the radio.I dont want to depend on the internet for that, I like my over the air stations. Plus it s free and dosent crush your data plan.

I have preliminary installed the unit and have it working somewhat. It's not 100% done as I am still awaiting the a fakra to rca connector so I can connect the OEM reverse camera to the unit. Yes - it does have bluetooth audio and I did not have to run any wires. All the necessary wires came with the unit. I have an 06 CTTS w/ the Bose system and it works like a charm so far.

It's almost truly plug and play. It has it's own GPS antenna so you have to use it's antenna. It comes w/ the MOST adapter so it works seamlessly with the existing Bose.

Sound is actually quite good. So far - it's definitely worth the money I spent. Being able to keep the OEM reverse camera functionality was a huge deciding factor for me. And it looks like I can do that. I have to get a fraka to rca connect for the backup video input and also need a relay to get the OEM camera to pop out when in reverse mode.

Yes - you do retain the steering wheel controls. I've tested the volume control & mute buttons and they worked perfectly. I've also tested the track forward trace backward button and they worked perfectly as well.

This is a great unit from what I see thus far. I do see certain interface that could be improved... such as the touch screen. The touch screen response is not as good as I expected. I had to touch the screen more than once sometime for it to respond. The USB interface for music search is not great. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it better... maybe it just takes time to figure it out. There are some other quirks as well but I'll get into that later when I have some more playing time with the unit.

Found this post really interesting and followed up on the information given by Koolkat i have located a Dynavin DVN-PC in the UK and am awaiting delivery (Wednesday), on talking with the UK distributer he was unsure if it really was plug and play. I contacted the US distributer and he did say that it was a plug and play unit though he was not sure about connecting a reversing camera.

James from sales@auto-electronics.com ( 0845 075 6050) called back and had received confirmation from the German based Company that this unit is a direct replacement for the PCM fitted to the Cayenne (2003-2010) and does work with vehicles fitted with the BOSE sound system and connects to the fibre optic cable with the addition and an extra box supplied with the unit. I have the car booked into a local audio specialists who are going to remove the PCM and mObridge unit and instal the Dynavin, i will ask if they can supply pics of the instal and post.

Okay all,

I got my new N6 unit. I had it installed by Newport Auto Sound. The unit looks and feels beautiful. I even installed a reverse camera. Now for the bad news. The unit worked for only 5 minutes. After changing the time the side buttons and knobs no longer work. The touch screen part works fine but all the buttons and knobs are not working. I updated the firmware and Jeff from JandT is aware but I am seeking my Rennlister's advice if they ran into something similar. By the way, I found out that my Cayenne only had a head unit w/o amp. Is that even possible? The guys at Newport Auto Sound were also surprised. Therefore, they did not connect the fiber cable into the new Dynavin just the Most box. For 5 mins the Dynavin looked amazing. I truly think this unit is great but I just need to figure out my issue of the buttons not working.

Anyone experience this?

Trollybus, Did the install go well? How does the unit work any issues?

Update:  My Dynavin N6 was defective and JandT distribution replaced it with overnight shipping.  The new unit works like a charm.
