So as some of you know Im in the middle of a huge undertaking and have a 2001 C4 Cab and the motor and trans are currently out of the car...

I have ordered a ton of replacement parts while the motor is out and replacing the tiptronic transmission... Im stumped at the IMS bearing...

All my research points to this is an aftermarket bearing in my motor already... if there anyway to verify by the picture? it seems that the center bolt in the mounting flange indicates this is an aftermarket bearing. when pulling the motor, it was obvious the motor and trans had been out of the car previously...

while the motor is out, I want to do the IMS but if its already been done I dont want to throw $700 at something thats already been corrected... Please help....photo.jpg

Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks stock. What size is the nut on the center bolt, and what gives you the impression it was changed?

Yes....Change it!

Service wise and piece of mind.

You will insure the reliability of the engine!

.... and rising the pricetag of the car documentating that the change actually has been done.
