I press the button to lower the top with handbrake engaged.
Windows go down
Top unlatches
It starts to go down smoothly and quickly, clamshell opens normally.
Gets almost to the end of the opening sequence, but the clamshell fails to close all the way - it stops just before it needs to latch onto the rear latch and so I have like a 4 inch gap and I have a convertible top open light. I hear some clicking sounds as it tries to make that last close. The top otherwise operates fast and smooth - so I doubt it's fluid.

I can close it fully with no problems.

I tried to see if any part of the headliner had come loose, nothing.
I tried to see if any cables were binding - nothing.

Anyone else had this happen to them and what was the resolution?

Car is 996Mk2 so that TSB for the contact switches for the 98/99 MY doesn't apply.

Thanks,

For future searchers - the problem was the passenger side flap was not tucking in under the clam shell quickly enough so it was getting stuck. I cleaned the guide and lubed it and now the flap tucks in properly.
