Tried to figure this out myself, but no luck. The car has had -0- oil leaks. I changed the oil , filter etc. and now I have a leak, not bad, but should not be happening. Spilled about one quarter quart into the filler area (engine compt) when changing the oil etc. Not coming from the oil filler tube, oil filter cap, or either of the drain plugs under the engine. Seems to be coming from the middle rear of the engine.

Is this just left over oil that I could not reach or perhaps something that was affected by the spill?

Any ideas?

Thanks

I will give it a try Loren. There isn't any oil on the "lip" around the cap, but will give it a try anyway. Oil only leaks after a few mile run.

Thanks, level remains fully topped up. Cap was not spec tight so torqued it on, leak seems to be subsiding and does not appear to be seal, thankfully.

Thanks!

Some drops of oil Still on the floor after driving. Been almost a month since the spill during the oil change, the leak amount has not changed, the oil level indication has not changed. Anyone know the quantity of oil I could expect if it was a seal? The car has 9,800 miles on it, 996tt 2004.

Thanks
