Hello,

Looking for some advice on my non functioning trailer lights... I installed the hitch and module about 6 mos ago, all O.E. stuff. No problems until last weekend. No trailer lights. Fuses (checked all 4) look good. Connections look good, no power at plug. Pulled the module tonight and it smelled good. As much of a test as I could give it anyhow.

Any thoughts?

What year and model car please?

How old is your battery? Have you had it load tested as as specific gravity tested?

A weak battery can cause all kinds of strange electrical problems in Cayennes (and actually most of the (2005 on) newer cars).

It's an 05 Turbo. Battery has been replaced recently. No concern with battery. I did tow a different trailer, and wondered if it shorted something out.

Still struggling with my lights...I have secured the wiring schematic and am trying to troubleshoot from there. Best price I found was app $300 for a new control unit, but don't really want to just replace until I have confirmed it is the control unit. (PN # 7L0 907 383) Another option I've considered is the std. 3 to 2 wire converter. Much cheaper and all I really use anyways... I was wondering if the Touareg version would work, as it is supposed to be splice free using existing connectors... PN # 118509 for that one. Anyone know if the plugs are common between the cayenne and Touareg?
