Hi,

I have a 2005 Boxster S. This weekend while I was away, there was a storm. My kid called and told me that lights were on and the windows about a quarter way down. I came home to windows in the position they go when putting the top down, spoiler up, and a dead battery. After charging and reconnecting the battery, the brake and reverse lights were constantly on and display started rolling through the failures: spoiler controller, psm, pasm, system fault, convertible top not in limit, etc. Various things are clicking and windows move randomly...

Where do I even start to trouble shoot this?? Am I totally screwed???

Get your battery load tested and specific gravity tested.

We have seen batteries less than one month old fail internally - so don't assume it is good no matter how new it is - test it.

Ok, I guess I should have researched a little more before posting.... There was water under the drivers seat that flooded the computer... Seems someone had been inside the driver's door and ripped up the gasket between the door and the door unit carrier.

Should everything be OK if I replace the computer? Any tips?

Sorry, it's not not quite that easy - the alarm box under the seat will need to be re-programmed for your keys and car.

You will need all keys a shop with a Porsche PIWIS tester and the cars' IPAS codes (from a dealer/OPC).

Thanks, Loren. I dried out the area, cleaned up the circuit board in the box, plugged it back in, and still no good (didn't expect it to work, but had to try...). Do you think that failure could have taken out other controllers?

It is possible but not likely if just the alarm box got wet.

Check all the fuses but you are looking at a new alarm box and programming it. At that time they can also do a diagnostic scan of the other controllers.
