Hello I have been part of other forums over the years and I have seen someone new get beaten down by the masses for posting a picture or asking a question, I understand a little kidding around and good clean fun but give us a break. I’m new to this forum and Porsche’s but I would like to learn more about the Porsche I own and the people that own, fix and enjoy them as I hope to for years. I have always enjoyed working on my toys from my BMX bike when I was a kid to my 900RR speed bike and everything else I have owned over the years. I know from time to time I may post a simple stupid question that is common knowledge to all of you but not to someone new, I just hope that my question are not seen as stupid but more as someone that would like to learn more.

By the way the car is coming along really well, I drove it around yesterday. I have to replace the front and rear brakes and the cam timing is a little off and the top working at all.

Newbie working on learning more and having fun every step of the way.

First of all, welcome :welcome:

No question is too small or stupid, it is just a question seeking an answer. You will find a lot of information on the forum, so be sure to put the search function to good use as many questions may already have been addressed in detail. You will also find DIY turtorials and tools tabs at the top of the page where a lot of good information is archived.

I have already learned quite a bit about the IMS problem, I think that will be the first thing I do to the 2000 996 I'm going to buy. I I'm not sure what Bore scoring is I guess I have more to read. Oh I do have a ton of questons but I will be searching and reading.

Nevertheless, drive the "h" out of it and have a ball like the rest of us.

You have a point! You know a good friend of mine asked why I did not Vette, I'm not sure why I think cause it's a Vette.

seriously, though, the Porsche forums - this one in particular - are amazing. my girl has a Mercedes SL500, and I go to their forums asking something that should be easy to find - the torque specs for the oil drain plug, and the most helpful response I got was "if your mechanic doesn't know that, you should get a new mechanic." :huh:

I know what you mean, I was thinking of getting a ML but I found the Benz groups were not as helpful as you guys. So here I am.
