Is there any way to manually open or close? I tried to search but no luck. I will keep trying. In the mean time any ideas?

I stopped the top half way up to clean the seals and now when I try to move it light flashes. I got out the tool to manually close it but only the clamshell moves unless I want to use a lot of force.

OK. I need some Xanax. Let me explain what happened. I was putting gummi pfledge on the seals and had my daughter open the roof half way, the trunk, and the hood. While I was sealing the roof and the front trunk she was "driving the car". when I finished I asked her to close the roof an nothing. Came in and did a quick search and was not able to find much. Went back out and started taking things apart. Found a way to move the clam shell. and found a way to lower the roof. did this a bunch and still no luck.

Came back in and did a search and found that the trunk must be closed. Did this and now things started to work, but the clamshell is out of sync.

Is there a way to resync?

I have read a few posts on this and nothing was clear.

So now I have a problem I created myself

Not good. In the end you are likely going to have to use a PIWIS to run a re-calibration anyways. So I would recommend going to a dealer to have them reset the process correctly.

Um.. Durametric says it can do a top calibration for that model year. Could be much less expensive than a dealer. Plus... you can use the Durametric for many other tests, code reset, etc. etc.

2 questions:

1. The clam shell will not move so the top will not go up and down. It will if I open the shell manually, the use the button in the car to open or close the roof, then I close the shell manually. All I need is a recalibration?

2. I see durametric at $800 on their website and $297 at amazon. Is the one from amazon all I need?

Ok and answer me honestly. Would I do more damage with a code scanner?

The $800 is the pro version for shops that do more than 3 cars. The $297 one has a three car limit.

Very little "programming" can be done with Durametric and any mistake can be un-done.

Now if you have a Porsche PST2 or Porsche PIWIS - then you could do lots of damage (and I have both).

So I am at the dealer. Good news is they said its a brand new roof. Bad news is that they say the car is confused. It is way out if sync and they have to call porsche to fix it. Good news is that I am sitting in a room of new Porsches. Bad news is that the 2013 4s cabrio I want is $172,000. Maybe next car. How much do you think I can get for a kidney?

But when I look at my car in the service bay it is a thing of beauty. Paint shines and I am far enough I can't see any dents or scratches. Also I called my wife to complain that I did this to myself. She said don't worry, this is not a big deal, and if I am going to mess with the car then this is the cost I have to pay. In the scheme of things this does not even count.

So I have the greatest wife ever. She bought me the car and doesn't care if I break it. Our 20 year wedding anniversary is next month. I should probably get her more than a card.

Sorry for the rambling, but just bored at the dealership.

Problem fixed. Shout out to North Olmsted Porsche. Got me is same day and fixed the roof for $250. Then inspected the car and fixed the washer, brake fluid leak, and hood for almost nothing.
