Thanks krjohnson. I hope to find the problem soon and hopefully is not too expensive to Fit it. I am getting really tired troubleshooting this problem. I hope I can fix the car so I can keep it for many years to come.

Today I had it smogged again but it had not cycled to a neutral state, so the car failed because there was still the CEL indicator, even though the CEL was off, the emission values were more than excellent and it passed all the visuals and other tests.

Hi Krjohnson,

Whoever cleared your codes should have informed you that all the monitors need to run before you retest! You can force all the monitors to run with an OEM scan tool if you can get your hands on one. If not just follow the drive cycle procedure you should be fine. Also the EVAP monitor will not run if your gas tank is over 3/4 full or below 1/4 tank. I have also attached the drive cycle procedure for you to follow. I know this procedure well as I am CA licensed smog tech that owns a 1997 993 C2S. Hope this helps let me know if you have any questions.

The dual-mass flywheel does not seem the problem of the CEL becouse the CPS is positioned opposite the starter gear on the flywheel, which forms part of the fixed portion , thus directly bolted to the cranckshaft. The sensor signal should have no affect of a defect damping second part of the flywheel. A very slichtly winding cranckshaft is possible, but then the engine should have an RMS oil loss. I would search for the problem elswhere.

Hi Luigi007,

We are going to need some more info on your misfire issue to point you in the right direction. I have attached two homework assignments for you Customer Concerns and Drivability Work sheet. Please fill them out as much as possible and put them back on the post so we can start pinpointing your issue.
