I have a 2008 Cayenne with 65K miles that had a major vibration during acceleration. Turns out the drive shaft bearing was toast. Bearings alone were not available from Porsche. Had to buy a whole new drive shaft. $1,200 repair. Runs great now and hesitation that I had during acceleration and vibration are gone. Is this a common problem? Why isn't a replacement bearing available? Will a VW Tourag bearing fit the Cayenne?

Very common problem. T-reg bearings are more expensive. There is a company in Denver which does the repairs for approx. 400 in exchange.

Yes, I have this problem on my 2004 S with 90K on it. But I ordered the shaft from Sunset Porsche at $800 and replace it my self. Very straight forward, you have to drop the exhaust system down and replace it. It take about 1.5 hours. Car is good as new. I did look at other alternate solution from bearing only and after market but decide to go with OEM because it not a lot of price difference and not worry about vibration from unbalance shaft.
