My Verizon phone charger is too narrow and too long for the short, fat cigarette lighter opening in my 2000 C2. They suggest internet, electronic stores, etc., for adapter and/or generic fatter, shorter charger. Anyone have same problem and found a solution? Thanks.

Suncoast Porsche has a cigarette lighter retrofit kit for less than $30. The kit replaces the European-sized receptacle with a US-sized one. The kit took me less than 15 minutes to install in my 2000 C4.

Buy the kit from Suncoast -- install ---- problem solved.

The kit contains everthing you need and is easy to install.

I have the kit. Anyone have info on removing original and replacing with new lighter. Thanks.

Been covered multiple times:

Unfortunately, not enough for me. Ex., disconnect battery prior to using the screw driver? Plus, how to get behind it, especially since I have no glove box. Assume since covered in past, I should search for it further in renntech. Thanks.

Guys, I'm stymied. Based on picture instructions, failed to "disengage the cover upwards" which assume is dash frontage piece that includes three buttons above lighter and the lighter. Otherwise, only able to pull lighter (clear plastic bezel?) out of hole for about half inch then it gets hung up and am leary of pulling too hard and do damage. Any other help/diagrams? Also assume don't have to disconnect battery.

Don't over think this, and don't be concerned about possibly breaking the clear bezel on the old lighter as you are going to be throwing it in the trash when you are done. The new unit's kit should include a new one.

No, you do not need to disconnect the battery, but you do need to unplug the old lighter from the wiring harness before proceeding.

Ok, so I'm not used to manhandling such a car (and would have no hesitation for my 03 ford explorer). Anyway, I'm still stymied regarding "unpluging the old lighter from wiring harness prior to proceeding." Do you mean that I still have to remove the dashboard cover of the three buttons plus lighter? Directions show disengaging the cover by pushing up but for whatever reason, my cover won't "push up." And yes, the kit includes a replacement bezel. Thanks for your continued interest.

OK, if you look in the lower left corner of the image I posted above, you will see the entire left trim piece of the dash(three buttons and lighter), which contains the lighter; this has to be pull off the dash panel to proceed. Tool for the job is a wooden tongue depressor (like a doctor uses) or some similar non marring device. Slide the tool under the trim piece and gently pull the trim while working the tool around its rim to extract it from the dash. It will pop right off. Once pulled off, you will see the lighter's electrical plug on the rear, just unplug it (you cannot get the old socket out without disconnecting it). Once the lighter is unplugged, you can commence removing the old one and installing the new parts.
