1999 Carrera S. What is it?

I just purchased what is supposed to be a 1999 Carrera S, but can find no information showing a 2 wheel drive S model being made that year. Any one out there who can enlighten me? Any information would be welcome.

Sorry, but there is no thing as a 1999 S model.

There is a 1998 air cooled S.

It is fairly trivial to add an "S" to the rear deck lid emblem...

Thanks, Logray. That is what I thought, but when my insurance agent ran the VIN it showed a 4S on his computer. I knew that was wrong, and they wanted to rate me for owning an S model. I'll take this information back to him and see what we can do.

My insurance card says 2001 "Carrer4." I wonder if I'm being charged more because they think I have a Carrera 4S.

Well there is no such thing as a 1999 C4S.

Only a 1999 C4.

It would make sense if you had a 2002 C4S (1st production year) that you could be charged more, those models are worth more.

Again, the VIN number should clear all of this up, and typically this is provided to the insurance company who should validate what you've got.

2002 - 2005 Carrera (coupe and cabriolet), Carrera 4 (coupe and cabriolet), Carrera 4S (coupe and - 2004 & 2005 cabriolet), Targa

Those are the ONLY 996 models ever sold.

I forgot there was no C4S in 2001. They definitely have my VIN on record.
