I've had intermittent problems with PCM on my 06 Boxster S over the last 18 months , system cuts out and occasionally reboots itself.

Porsche diagnosis is PCM unit needs to be replaced, very costly since I'm out of warranty.

Today I received this message:

SYSTEM FAILURE -

PHONE, AMPLIFIER, NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND CD CHANGER ALL UNAVAILABLE.

So it appears my audio , nav and phone are dead. The car itself runs great , I am the original owner.

Anyone here have any similar issue or suggestions.

Thanks ...

You are going to need a diagnostic tool to further narrow down the problem.

Durametric or Porsche PIWIS are needed to run diagnostics and get faults.

I have been to an authorized Porsche dealer service center , run a full diagnostic and say a full replacement is needed. Either a new PCM or an aftermarket unit.

Without seeing the fault codes that were generated we can not confirm or deny the action required.

Try asking them for a copy of the faults report generated by their PIWIS tester.

Porsche could not identify source of PCM failure , but have surprisingly replaced PCM unit and BOSE amplifier at no cost. Needless to say , I am extremely happy with Porsche NA. My car is 3 years out of warranty.
