Why is the radio reception so bad in this vehicle? Is there a way to fix this? Can I replace the antennae or add a booster to it? On any other vehicle I've driven I can get something other than static on just about every station on the dial, on my overpriced VW I get a handful.

There are 2 antenna's connected to the rear of the radio, I would check to make sure they are both on.

The antenna are inside of the rear spoiler which can be accessed by opening the rear GLASS and you will be able to access the screws which holds the top part from the bottom.

Check for water damage or obvious mechanical electrical issues

I own a 2004 S and the radio (PCM 2, CD, not DVD nav) and reception are excellent. Once you sort out your issues you'll be pleased with the radio.

The right hand side does the FM reception the centre (black) connector is the aerial lead in.

You may find that the co~ax cable has broken at the tailgate hinge (not usually visible as internally snapped).

You can get a repair cable which is basically a metre of cable with a "fakra" connector on 1 end, I use a company called co~star t: +44 (0)1423 340066

Cost about £5

I have a 2008 Cayenne GTS and i just started noticing that my FM radio gets mostly all static only when i engage the rear defroster. It just started out of the blue today. Any ideas?

Thanks
