Hi,

My 99 996 has an issue with the seat. If you move the seat forward, its fine, it wont go back, though once in a while I can get it moving backwards. The back adjustment doesnt seem to work at all going back, but again does go forward.

I dont think the motor is a problem in the seat, but the switch seems to be faulty.

Is there some way for me to manually force the seat to go back? Is there some wires i can jump or other magic to get it adjusted?

I am taking the wife out for her maiden ride in the car tomorrow night, and I really dont feel like listening to her complain about how uncomfortable it is because she is leaning forward - not that she wouldnt be right but after spending $17K on a used 14 year old car, i would rather hear how happy she is.

Thanks,Rich

Had a similiar problem and it kept blowing fuses. It turned out to be a dime stuck in the axle gear of the seat. Removal is easy. Remove the four plastic mount covers and remove the four bolts. then disconnect the electrical plugs. I had the seat leaning sideways when the offending dime appeared. Good luck. No there is no manual adjustment. Try activating the seat adjusters when the seat is leaning sideways, perhaps you'll see the mechanism bind.

I found that if I played with the switch, the seat does move, but it certainly seems like a bad switch. Not quite making proper contact. I will take another look when I pop it open.

Thanks,

Rich
