How does one access the DME? I'm intending to remove mine while the car is being painted to get it re-programmed by the likes of GIAC or DMS...

It is in the rear trunk behind the carpet piece which has the light. There is a picture of it in the cruise control retrofit thread. I think you have a tip so you will see a second control unit behind the carpet.

Ok, removed the DME today or what I thought was the DME. There're 2 units, 1 with part number 986 618 240 01 and the other starting with 996 *** (also marked Cartronic). I removed the one on the right. It has just 1 single connector to it for all the cables. The other one has multiple connectors. Both are labelled Bosch.

My question is, did I remove the correct unit and not the Tiptronic one....

Have attached 2 pics....

Pllleeeeaasse tell me I removed the correct unit :) I also disconnected the batt before unplugging the DME.

PS : I'm sending it to GIAC finally....

That lookes like the tiptronic.  It is more in the middle.

The DME has a 996 part number.  The tip control unit a 986 part number.

Great :( Now I gotta go back and remove the 2nd unit. Thanks for the info.... much appreciated :)
