I'm back after being away for a couple of years, thanks you recession!

Anyway I just bought a 2003 Boxster S, Speed Yellow

Going through the car now and fixing all the little things.

Got into the engine compartment today just to look around and found a bracket with nothing connected as well as a hole plugged where it looks like a hose might have gone.

Can you guys look at the picture attached and let me know what you know?

Thanks a bunch!

The bottom arrow in your photo is pointing to the lift point used at the factory for moving the engine/trans around. Nothing to worry about.

The top arrow appears to be pointing to the location of the butterfly which balances intake air pressures. Under the tube is a vacuum control that actuates the butterly. What you think is a plug is likley the cover over the butterfly's shaft. Probably nothing to worry about there, either.

Good info above.

Also to note, the bottom bracket also allows routing/fixing of various hoses (fuel/coolant) that cross over the engine if it was a 3.4L or 3.6L from a 996.
