2004 Cayenne S Driver Door Won't Unlock With Remote

My Brother-in-Law has loaned me his 2004 Cayenne S (UK) and all of a sudden the driver's door won't unlock with the remote. The other doors all unlock, and the alarm is disarmed, but I then have to use the key in the door to unlock the driver's door.

Any ideas on what could be causing this or what we can do to diagnose the problem?

Chances are the door latch mechanism has failed which contains the lock motor. You can test it with a PIWIS factory scan tool and also inspect for damaged wiring in the door hinge area.

Since posting this it has managed to lock once with the remote, but subsequent attempts the remote was still not unlocking or locking the drivers door
