if yes how do you connect it to the stereo?

(i do not like wires)..

*Itrip?

*XtremeMac AirPlay FM Transmitter?

Apparently there are lots of contradictory reviews on these depending on the place where you live, the car you have etc...

Would be curious to hear of any experience in the boxster.

If you have an 2002 or earlier boxster with the Becker Radio, there is a wiring harness that you can buy from Becker that allows you to directly input the ipod audio into the radio. If you have a later car with the digital radio, you are stuck with the FM modulator option.

In that case, you will need to purchase an iPod adapter that emulates the CD changer. These are available from Dension with their iceLink product.

Itrip works great!

The FM modulators work pretty good if they have a good power supply from the car, and (and a big and) if you live in an area that does not have back to back FM stations. In places like NY, and LA, it is impossible to find a quiet frequency.

I found that the hardwired units that emulate the CD changer are the best both functionally and aurally.

I have an iPod hardwire connection in both my Audis and the 996, and they sound great!

Orient Express.... thanks so much i did not know about the Dension.

I have booked myself to the shop for saturday.

Only though point is London price fully fitted to the boxster is: GBP 250 + vat means GBP 293.75 in total.

Means USD 566.5 at current exchange rate... ouch!

I just returned my XtremeMac transmitter today - worked poorly and the LCD gave out after 2 weeks. So far, I'm pretty impressed w/ the iTrip that is replacing it.

I have the same setup as erics in my 2001 S, but have a cd changer (cdc-3) installed. Do I still need something to emulate the cd changer or can I get the wiring harness from becker and use the cd changer port?

Unless there is something new, you can have aux-in or the cd changer, but not both. The aux-in plug goes into where the cd changer plug is.

NoElise,

BE CAREFULL TO WHAT THE audio guys tell you!

You can have BOTH the use of the Dension adaptor (ipod) + still have the use of the CD changer CDC3...

But for this you will need some competent guys tp work on your car:

They must fit a switch that will be located in a discret place inside the car (so you do not impair the original car appearance for resell) which will enable you to use either the cd player or the ipod..

Insist clearly on this as it is possible to do it... although some audio car guys will try to convince you of the opposite.

Regards,

Eric.
