My 2000 bxtr S is at 15k miles now, and I am thinking to bring it in for a service. I just had my oil changed at 7500 at a local shop I know.

I know carlsen porsche have oil change coupon for 118 bucks, but unfortunately my coupon was expired and I haven't received new ones yet.

So I called in and ask how much is 15k service, they told me 480 bucks. I was like, oil change + 27 point inspection on coupon is 118 bucks, you now tell me 15k service is 480?????? I asked them what do they do differently on 15k service, and the guy couldn't answer me.

Does anyone know what do they do on 15k service?? Is it just mainly oil change? If that's so, I might as well just buy anther 10q of mobil1 oil / porsche filter and bring it to the local shop for cheap.

Please advise, and thanks in advance!

15k includes cabin filter change (easy $25 part for DYI), brake check, air filter check, suspension check, exhaust check, fluid top off, wiper replacement.

All the inspection is important. If you don't have a ramp or jack to life the car to check yourself, you should have a shop do it.

Those 27 point inspects are limited to visual without putting your car on a lift. That's not enough.

so you mean it's worth paying them 480 bucks to do the 15k service? instead of some 100 bucks if i were to change the oil or something?

thanks
