Hello all,

I have been lurking around here for almost 2 years.

I have a 2006 Cayenne S with automatic transmission with about 70,000 miles. This morning I went to drive it to the car wash. When I went to accelerate onto the autobahn the engine acted as if it were in limp mode. There was no power under load above 3,500 RPM. In neutral the engine will not rev past 4200 RPM.

Here is what it is not doing or has been replaced

- It starts and idles fine.

- plugs and coils replaced last year less than 10 thousand miles ago.

- I do not have a check engine light on.

I am thinking:

1. MAF sensors (looks like a special tool required for replacement).

2. Throttle position sensor

3. Fuel Filters

4. Fuel Pumps

5. Or another sensor related to fuel pressure or fuel regulation/delivery system.

Does anyone have any trouble shooting tips or advice before I give up and take it to the dealer?

It's hard to guess.

Read error codes first.

Well not having an OBD code reader makes it a little hard (durametric not compatible with Mac). I would have thought the CEL should have came on.

thanks~

If the CEL is not lit there could be still a fault code pending, this being said, i would leave the DME reprogram. There may be involuntary reboot happened and the DME is slipped back in limited factory modus.

As of right now it is the Throttle Positioining Sensor....an 80 euro part.

It was tested twice while I was there...and apparently it was within tolerance. But, the technician appeared to almost argue (in a polite manner) with the senior mechanic that this was indeed the fault.

I am also having the right side headlight mounting plate replaced while it is there so the dealer can properly aim the headlights.

To close this one out. It was the throttle position sensor. It did not leave a hard fault in the memory. Dealer essentially took a "shot in the dark" and replaced the sensor and that solved the problem.

thanks everyone!
