Hi Fellow boxsterites

I need new starter motor for my 1998 boxster r/h drive 5 sp manual have seen 2 types 1.1kw and 1.7 kw

now the 1.7 kw high output is apparently 1" longer would this still fit ok.......... please advise and also having

the extra output wouldnt jepardise anything ???? and please if you have correct part # to confirm the right

starter as the one im looking at is after market....

There are three starters listed for the 986 Boxster: 20 986 604 104 00 Starter 1 1,2 KW (20) A 996 604 104 00 Starter 1,8 KW 1 M 249 (20) 996 604 103 00 Starter 1 M 249 M 198

The "M 249" designation is for Tiptronic 986's, so it looks like the correct starter is the 1.2KW unit, part number 986 604 104 00

to let you know after further investigation from your email...... the 98660410400 part # is now 99660410300

porsche descides to change nos at there discretion good thing is its a 1.7kw so bit more grunt on start up....
