I was having some trouble with my Cayenne 2006 headlamps. It has a bixenon setup, the light was too dim.I took out the D1S bulbs and found that the bulbs were a little hazy with a dark brown discoloration around the middle. They are Osram Xenarc 35WPicture1 is of the bulb with the discolorationAlso I had some aiming issues with the head lamp. I found 2 adjustment screws, so my question is that is it possible to adjust the high beam and low beam seperately?I thought there was only one screw we turned to adjust our headlamps. Also I found a shutter inside the xenon projector housing which i pressed with a screw driver and it flipped down? What is this for? does it mean when we switch on the high beam the xenon shutter also falls? If so then why do we have a seperate high beam on the side?

For adjustment I'm not sure, coz I never need to do it yet.

Shutter is for high beam. When you turn on high beam shutter opens.

There is no separate adjustment for high and low beam, one adjustment screw is for up/down, the other for left/right (complete unit)

So which one is for up down and which one for left right?

It does no matter realy, the system on a Cayenne is not accurate. The up/down adjustment have too much influence to the left/right beam and vice versa, you will need both of them at the same time to reach a good set up.

I have one little advice. READ the car's manual. I was shocked of how much info was there and i did not know about it.

You can, by yourself adjust the headlamps, as you wish. Just follow the instructions in the manual. It is very easy. Oh, and one more thing. "Also I found a shutter inside the xenon projector housing which i pressed with a screw driver and it flipped down? What is this for? does it mean when we switch on the high beam the xenon shutter also falls? If so then why do we have a seperate high beam on the side?"

This is a sistem that allows you to change the way the deaights illuminate on the road, when you are travelling in areas with right hand driving.

I mean, if you are in France for example, and travel to Great Britain. Your headlamps are set for Left side driving. If you leave them as they are in Great Britain, you will blind the cars coming your way. So, this is why, this sistem allows you to switch between Left hand driving and right hand driving, whitout going to a dealer, or using PIWIS.

p.s - this is also mentioned in the owner's manual. :)
