Hello NOOB, here so my apologies.

I was looking at buying a 2004 cayenne s. But there is a yellow ! indicator. The dealer says it's the breaks need replacing and he doesn't want to do them because the cost.

What is the yellow ! - could it be anything other than breaks? I have an odbc II reader should I run it and see if it's another error code? My big worry is it was an out of state car and I need to be sure it passes emitions.

It's a clean car 90k miles so I know it needs the drive shaft work and hoses replaced. A general 100k maintenance is what ill do if I pick it up.

Hi there....

The ! on the dash could be anything from you need to re-fuel to you need a new engine. You need to have the diagnosstic codes read out with PIWIS or Durmetric to see what it actually is. I would not just buy that it is the brakes.....If they know that by reading the codes, ask them to show you the readout.

Good luck.

Usually a message pops up on the display between the two dials. You can also use the display controller (right stalk) and scroll though the menu to find the error(!) Display.
