Hi all

In desperate need of some help!

I have a 2002 996 turbo and the battery is dead and I therefore cannot get into the bonnet to access the battery!

Ive tried connecting a donor battery to the fuse bit as per the manual but the keys out of sync so the alarm is going mad......theres no way I can leave it going off like that for 15 mins as in a residential area.

Ive read that there is an emergency release cable under the front wheel arch......ive removed the forward facing liners on both sides and cant see anything that I would assume resembles a twine cable ive looked up around the headlights but not removed the rear liners. I read it was on the drivers side.

Does anyone know exactly what im looking for and where? I would be eternally grateful if so!!

In hindsight I wish id got homestart :-( upgrading to that is a last resort.

The cable is on the right hand side, the forward top portion. You have to pull hard on it to release the latch. The cable is exactly the one on the picture (arrow) but further aft because now the picture show the front bumper cover removed....

Thats amazing thanks ever so much!!Is it definitely accessible through the forward section of wheel arch lining seems quite a way back and when we had it off before cant seem to recall being able to reach that far. I guess if we took the wheel off it would gain more access?
