Hey guys,

I found my left cooling fan not working yesterday. MY 2001 base Boxster with a 5 speed.

Checked both fuses & relays but it seems no power is getting to the fan. Any suggestions on where to go next?

Posted

yes. both high & low speed. I have checked the fuses & swapped the relays from the right side. I also checked for power at the connector & nothing on all 3 wires.

I did check the fuse, it was the first place I went. I'm going to re-check everything this morning just to make sure I didn't miss something.

The next step would be to power the fan directly with 12 volts. If the fan doesn't work then, I would guess the fan motor has given up the ghost.

If you put power to the terminals on the fan itself, the fan should work. If it does work, the you most likely have a broken electrical connection somewhere between the battery and the fan. If the fan doesn't run with power applied directly to it, then the fan motor is the likely culprit and the electrical circuit is probably ok.
