I have a 1999 996 C2 tiptronic that has rusty fuel rails. Should they be replaced or can I clean them?

Also, I found a used set from a 2001 996 C2 will they fit my 1999 c2. Here are the two vins.

Up to MY1999 uses 996-110-931-52

MY2000 uses 996-110-934-53

MY2001 uses 996-110-934-52

And of course MY2002 and newer use a completely different fuel rail with the returnless system.

I do not know the differences between the ones used in MY99 to 01 but Porsche would not stock 3 parts if they did not need to.

Your safest bet would be another MY1999 IMHO.

I really appreciate the answer. The rust isnt real bad, but was wondering if anyone ever just cleaned the rust and treated the rails with something. What kind off metal are they made out of?
