I am considering purchasing 2009 911 from a non-Porsche dealer with very low mileage (definite garage queen) and stopped into a P-dealer just to see what they had. I chatted with the service manager and he said that buying CPO was way preferential because this low mileage car could have fused/stuck plugs in the engine block. He said that the dissimilar metals create an electrolysis process that fuses the metals together. He then said changing plugs is just about time as much as mileage and I would be taking a big risk buying an '09 with such low mileage.

Opinions?

Other issues with buying an '09, with very low mileage and out of warranty - I am pretty sure it is now out of warranty but will find out more this weekend.

Thanx,

Bruce in Philly

Agreed .. Very bizzare......I have heard alot of Porsche issues but never ONCE fused plugs on a low mileage car. Or a high mileage car for that matter.. I do agree on getting a CPO car though...

Do you really think that Porsche would combine metals in an engine that could "fuse"??????

Some service managers are real @*$ holes..

I have seen more then enough spark plugs seized in cylinder heads but only on high milage vehicles so I wouldn't worry about it.

Wow what a bunch of balogna. You have better chances of being struck by lightning twice on the same day than the spark plugs being siezed in that car. Im sure if you were buying the same low milage car from them, there would be no worries about any stuck spark plugs. The stuff you hear come out of peoples mouths sometimes is just ridiculous. By the way that service manager is an idiot, spark plugs thread into the cylinder head, not the engine block or case.
