hi. i'm new to the forum, but looked around a little bit and couldn't find something i'm experiencing with my '01 Boxster S. it all started after i put a new battery (the car was without power for couple of months). issues i have:

central lock button doesn't lock the door. occasionally it lights up red, disappears after i press on it

remote doesn't lock the car. it can open it if i lock it with the key

remote doesn't open the trunk. light on dash flashes though

so the remote does some things, i don't think it has to be reset or battery should be replaced. it looks like central lock to me, but like i said, i'm new. so any suggestion from you, the pros, would be appreciated.

thank you for your time

Nazar:

You didn't state what model and year your car is..

Try this

If your car is not unlock by the remote with in 5 days it disables it. ( to prevent running down the battery)

1. Unlock the drivers door with the key in the door lock.

2. Leave door unopen, press the lock button on the remote. (button 1 lock/unlock)

It should now re-enable the remote

it is '01 Boxster S. I tried that, no luck. did you consider that the lock button on the dash doesn't lock the doors neither?

thank you

I'm at a lost...

Looks like dealer time.

There is a memory control unit, fuse E2.

Not certain what that memory control unit is for. With the battery removed for a couple of months it's hard to say..

Sorry I wasn't much help.

I had similar problem. First noticed it while drving, the lock LED would come on. I traced it to the passenger side door latch mechanism.

Well just opening and closing the door multiple times, and bamging on the interior door panel, the led lit up.

It was annoying, but not critical until the car would not lock.

The door open/closed switch was bad (it was the solder joint for the switch) .

Try on both doors.

With the window full up, pull door handle. The window should lower about 1/4 - 1/2 inch. Let go of the door handle. With the door open, the window should stay down. If it goes up, then the switch is bad.
