I have a 04 cayenne turbo with 60k that I got an econ tune and have been issues which I thought were initially pinging or surges but think might be a clutch issue. I allready sorted out my initial ignition issues but replaced all coils and spark plugs, New fuel filter and various evap parts. Now what I notice is around 3000-4000k mainly I get what seems like studdering and loss of power which improves somewhat in higher rpms. I have had 3 episodes of clear slipping and the rpms jumping up. Sometimes I am lucky and get smooth accerleration but it can happen even with only 50 percent throttle. Could the studdering be the clutch almost slipping and grabbing as the power drops in higher rpms. I have no codes being thrown. Any advice on how to figure this problem. I have a durametric if I can check something with it.

definitely not the clutch.....CTTs are 6 speed slush boxes so no manual clutch setup to speak of....just a torque converter in the bell housing.

have you checked the fluid level in the tranny? You will have to bring the fluid to 55C (durametric readout) then open the bottom port and try pumping in some more ATF (type IV toyota ATF is chemically identical fluid, see my other posts for the VOAs on each fluid).

The other thing is did you replace your coolant pipes yet? Some have had coolant drip down into the bell housing and contaminate seals on the tranny before.

If you want to rule out the tune quickly....go back to the oem tune

They did offer a manual gearbox in the Cayenne but if a clutch is failing it usually gets worse and doesn't work sometimes then slip others. I personally would get rid of the tune and retest with the factory set up.
