I had my Catalytic converter fail after 125,000 miles. I looked everywhere for a reasonable replacement. I called the dealer and the cost to replace was about 4K. I found Maxspeed Motorsports in Canada. They manufacture a custom bolt on header with Cats. There replacements are bolt on and they removed both secondary cats from the system, and are ODBII compliant. I installed them 9 months ago and enjoy the throatier exhaust note and a slight increase in performance. They were about $1000.00. They also sell the secondary pipes to extend back to the Muffler. http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/nhp986headers.html

The sound improved a little. It is a little more throatier sounding. I plan on replacing the muffler next, and this should also help.

Hi machster,

How did you find out that your cats needed to be replaced? Noise or obd-2 assessment?

My 01 is making a rattling noise during light throttle at 2500 to 2800 rpm or when coasting to a stop in 2 nd gear and the engine rpm comes into the same 2800-2500 range.

Any description of your experience will be of assistance.

Thanks in advance

sb01box, Sorry for the delay. I had intermittent ODB codes. I took it to a muffler shop and they said the Cats were completely sealed off.
