Howdy all,

I've read a few posts on here that tell me I'm not alone in the Boxster crowd when I drive over a bump in the road and my windows decide to lower halfway because the car thinks the top is being activated. The wife does not really appreciate this little feature while we're driving.

To get the windows to raise again, I just have to disengage the latch and re-engage it to make sure the latch goes far enough into the hole to press down the button again.

A couple of questions for folks:

1) Is the correct part to replace the "Convertible Top Latch Switch" that goes in the center between the visors?

2) Does anyone that's replaced it have any instructions they could share?

Pull out the 2 oval covers for the interior motion detector and behind them you will see 2 torx screws, remove the screws. Then pull the top latch housing away and disconnect the electrical connector.

The switch is held in place with 2 round clips. Pry the clips off and then the switch comes off. You cannot reuse the clips so buy them when you buy the switch.

Or, the no cost way is to glue a shim to the button that gets pressed when the top is latched and see if that cures the issue.

Thanks for the photo. I thought of just gluing something on there, but it seemed so un-Porsche-like.

I am ordering the part from Sunset since's it's only about 20 bucks. It has gotten progressively worse, so I figure it's probably safest to just replace the darn thing.

This is a great forum.

I had this problem. I took a 1/4" by 1/2" piece of double sided foam tape, did not take off the backing on side and stuck it on the switch. No problems since.
