Upgraded my GIAC flash with a UMW program, MUCH more low end torque

Hi all,

I want to say this is NOT a paid endorsement, I am getting NOTHING for posting this, just the hope that I am helping someone else with information (as you all have me through all the posts I have read and my other post on p1145)

I don't see as much information on here about this topic, so I thought I would share my experience for what it is worth in case any of you are thinking of an ECU flash.

If any of you guys are planning on doing an ECU flash to upgrade your car you should certainly consider and talk with Kevin at UMW (UltimateMotorWerks) -- He certainly doesn't come off as a pushy sales guy, rather someone who knows Porsche technology and can tune your car.

My experience was going from a GIAC stage 3 tune to the UMW tune. I have found that the car idles smoother, that its low end drivability is improved (likely due to the increased torque earlier) and when the gas pedel is pushed down it goes as hard as ever. I say it is an "upgrade" due to the increased drivability, not just crazy power. (although the crazy power is there)

Kevin also builds turbos and I am sure does other things, so I can imagine if you want to do more than an ECU flash he can help you there. I do mean help, he took plenty of time to talk with me about the tune to understand it and has helped with other issues.

Thanks.. Great to hear about a tuner that does great work and makes people happy. You tune sounds awesome.. Did his tune switch you over to "speed density" instead of the MAF system? You say the car idles smoother.. Just curious...

TMK, Kevin's tunes do not in any way replace the stock MAF. He does have a nice way of using data logs from your car (mods installed, type of driving, environmental conditions and altitude for example) to tweak the tune specific to your car

Thanks Wross. I was just curious because the Promotive tune has a speed density option that comes with the tune. You can switch back and forth from MAF to Speed density (if you want) with the flash cable. I was just wondering if UMW's tune was similar.

Protomotive you mean? How does that work? It bypasses the MAF?
