The 997T2 has been running well till this morning. It would fire up but after 3 to 5 seconds, the engine would sputter to a halt. When cranked up again, it fires up perfectly, only to sputter and die 3 to 5 seconds later.

I pulled out a P1284 code from

DME. It says "Fuel Pump, electrical". Do you know how to rectify this? Is this the fuel tank pump or high pressure pump for DFI?

Sprint.

I'm sorry but what is a 997T2? Do you mean a 997-2 TT? Is it a Carrera? Whatever it is it's still under warranty.. Why don't you let the dealer take a look at it?

Yes, it's a 2010 997 TT. PET calls it 997T2? Anyway, I unplug the fuel pump control unit and same symptoms but no error codes. I plug it back in and same symptoms with P1284 code.

Is it a bad fuel pump control unit? Do they go back? Took it apart. No moisture or anything...

It's a gray market car. No warranty. :-(

That may make the P1284 code definition "Prepare to spend serious money" as the fuel pumps in the 2010 997 are going for north of $600......................

That is for the in-tank pump (which is also different on the DFI cars), the mechanical high-pressure unit has been an issue and quite a few have been replaced under warranty. No idea what that sells for as no one has had to buy one yet due to warranty coverage, but knowing Porsche, I'll bet it has an eye-watering price tag.............. We have heard (second hand) that the mechanical pump driven off the cams is in the $1K neighborhood, but have no confirmation of that.

I'd recommend taking the vehicle to the nearest OPC instead of the guess work way of throwing parts at a car until you guess the correct one.
