Hello All,

First Post!

The fuel filler cap on my Cayenne is stuck in the locked position, and I am only able to open it using the rubber release cable inside the rear of the car. I've read some threads about similar issues and think it might be the solenoid actuator that is faulty.

The tailgate and rear window aren't affected, and I get the following behaviour

- Upon locking the car, the actuator shoots the pin out to lock the fuel filler cap, and then goes back about 5mm (still locked though)

- Upon unlocking the car, the actuator does nothing

I've read it could be a fault fuse, but are there different fuses for locking and unlocking the actuator?

Advice appreciated

Try WD-40 to clean/lube the actuator pin and if that doesn't sort it then replace the unit.

Where would I squirt WD40 exactly? On the pin thats showing, or inside the wheel well where the actuator is?

On the pin and gently push it in/out with your finger to help free it up. It gets gummed up cause it's exposed to the elements.

Thanks for that - I tried that today and the pin moves freely out when you lock, but nothing happens at all when you unlock. I can't even hear it trying to move the pin back.

Faulty solenoid then?

Is there a how-to on how to access/change it?
