This is my first post to this forum though I've been reading and learning from it for ages. Thanks to all you contributors. I've only had my MY08C4 for a couple of months and I'm totally dazzled by it. When I return to it from the shops and see it parked, I cannot believe it's mine! or that I've actually got the key for it in my pocket. It runs like I imagined it would, absolutely amazing, thrilling.

There's one problem, i.e., re-fueling it. The tank reads 1/4 full and I can't get any more fuel in, it overflows and refuses to take any more. My research here and elsewhere has revealed this is not an unusual problem. I have read about a solenoid 'click' one should hear when the little metal fuel filler flap is pushed open by the fuel dispenser spigot. That doesn't happen with mine. I've also read that "I just need to replace Fuse No E6" which I've checked and is O.K. I've lowered a length of garden hose into the tank - made no difference.

My mindset is one that when the tank reaches 1/2, it's time to fill. It's driving me nuts that I can't get above 1/4. It seems I need to buy a whole new filler pipe which I'm loathe to do because of the cost and the fact I am a 5 hour non-freeway drive away from the nearest dealership (Christchurch). If anyone here has any suggestions other than what I've tried, I'd me most grateful and thanks in advance.

Are you hesitant to make the long drive to the Porsche dealership because the car is out of warranty? How about an independent service shop in your area? Just a thought....

thanks for the thought but the warranty status never really occurred to me. My hesitance is more due to the arrangements I have to make before I leave home (care for animals etc). It's actually a fun drive to the dealership but we are in the middle of winter here and I'm planning to do the drive in the spring for oil & filter change and if I cannot solve this issue before then, well it will be addressed then. As thrilled as I am with the car, I do wonder at the wisdom of 911 ownership so far from a Porshce dealership, time will tell huh?!

Since it is a C4, with saddlebag fuel tank, there will be a calibration must be carried out. By the different design of the fuel tank, shall C4/Turbo and GT2 still be fully fueled and not with a few liters, what will surely happened. It is increasingly important attention to that.

thanks for your response but alas, I do not understand the relevance of a saddlebag fuel tank or what needs to be calibrated or how C4/Turbot and GT2 figure in the issue and exactly what it is thats important to pay attention to. However, I will pass your info on to the dealership when I see them in the hope it makes sense to them.

Thanks very much, Loren. It amazes me how gauging the amount of fuel in the tank , or refueling, could be so complicated! I knew when I bought the car it was highly tuned and sophisticated engineering but a refueling and gauge issue? I didn't expect that! I'll live with it now until I can take it to the dealership in a couple of months time. Thanks again for giving me the link to the previous discussion on the subject. I had searched for it but without success

Many thanks, Loren. It's starting to make sense now. Porsche dealership for recalibration added to the 'to do' list.
